Qaraa

وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنٰهُ بِهَا وَلٰكِنَّهُۥٓ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ ۚ فَمَثَلُهُۥ كَمَثَلِ ٱلْكَلْبِ إِن تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثْ أَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَث ۚ ذّٰلِكَ مَثَلُ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايٰتِنَا ۚ فَٱقْصُصِ ٱلْقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنٰهُ بِهَا وَلٰكِنَّهٗٓ اَخْلَدَ اِلَى الْاَرْضِ وَاتَّبَعَ هَوٰىهُۚ فَمَثَلُهٗ كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِۚ اِنْ تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثْ اَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَثْۗ ذٰلِكَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِيْنَ كَذَّبُوْا بِاٰيٰتِنَاۚ فَاقْصُصِ الْقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُوْنَ

walau syi`nā larafa'nāhu bihā wa lākinnahū akhlada ilal-arḍi wattaba'a hawāh, fa maṡaluhụ kamaṡalil-kalb, in taḥmil 'alaihi yal-haṡ au tatruk-hu yal-haṡ, żālika maṡalul-qaumillażīna każżabụ bi`āyātinā, faqṣuṣil-qaṣaṣa la'allahum yatafakkarụn

Dan kalau Kami menghendaki, sesungguhnya Kami tinggikan (derajat)nya dengan ayat-ayat itu, tetapi dia cenderung kepada dunia dan menurutkan hawa nafsunya yang rendah, maka perumpamaannya seperti anjing jika kamu menghalaunya diulurkannya lidahnya dan jika kamu membiarkannya dia mengulurkan lidahnya (juga). Demikian itulah perumpamaan orang-orang yang mendustakan ayat-ayat Kami. Maka ceritakanlah (kepada mereka) kisah-kisah itu agar mereka berfikir.

And if We had willed, we could have elevated him thereby, but he adhered [instead] to the earth and followed his own desire. So his example is like that of the dog: if you chase him, he pants, or if you leave him, he [still] pants. That is the example of the people who denied Our signs. So relate the stories that perhaps they will give thought.

وَلَوْ

وَلَوۡ

dan kalau

And if

شِئْنَا

شِئۡنَا

Kami menghendaki

We willed

لَرَفَعْنَـٰهُ

لَرَفَعۡنٰهُ

niscaya Kami tinggikan

surely, We (could) have raised him

بِهَا

dengannya (ayat-ayat)

with these

وَلَـٰكِنَّهُۥٓ

وَلٰـكِنَّهٗۤ

tetapi dia

[and] but he

أَخْلَدَ

اَخۡلَدَ

dia cenderung

adhered

إِلَى

اِلَى

kepada

ٱلْأَرْضِ

الۡاَرۡضِ

bumi

the earth

وَٱتَّبَعَ

وَاتَّبَعَ

dan dia mengikuti

and followed

هَوَىٰهُ ۚ

هَوٰٮهُ ۚ

hawa nafsunya

his (vain) desires

فَمَثَلُهُۥ

فَمَثَلُهٗ

maka perumpaannya

So his example

كَمَثَلِ

seperti

(is) like (the) example

ٱلْكَلْبِ

الۡـكَلۡبِ ۚ

anjing

(of) the dog

إِن

اِنۡ

jika

تَحْمِلْ

تَحۡمِلۡ

kamu menghalau

you attack

عَلَيْهِ

عَلَيۡهِ

atasnya

[on] him

يَلْهَثْ

يَلۡهَثۡ

ia menjulurkan lidahnya

he lolls out his tongue

أَوْ

اَوۡ

atau

تَتْرُكْهُ

تَتۡرُكۡهُ

kamu membiarkannya

if you leave him

يَلْهَث ۚ

يَلۡهَث ؕ

ia menjulurkan lidahnya

he lolls out his tongue

ذَّٰلِكَ

ذٰ لِكَ

demikian itu

That

مَثَلُ

perumpamaan

(is the) example

ٱلْقَوْمِ

الۡقَوۡمِ

kaum

(of) the people

ٱلَّذِينَ

الَّذِيۡنَ

orang-orang yang

who

كَذَّبُوا۟

كَذَّبُوۡا

(mereka) mendustakan

denied

بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا ۚ

بِاٰيٰتِنَا ۚ

pada ayat-ayat Kami

[in] Our Signs

فَٱقْصُصِ

فَاقۡصُصِ

maka ceritakanlah

So relate

ٱلْقَصَصَ

الۡقَصَصَ

kisah-kisah

the story

لَعَلَّهُمْ

لَعَلَّهُمۡ

agar mereka

so that they may

يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

يَتَفَكَّرُوۡنَ‏

mereka berfikir

reflect
